PRO Act Passes the U.S. House of Representatives:

On March 9, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 225-206 to pass H.R. 842, the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act.

SHRM sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy expressing concern over PRO act provisions that would:

  • Violate employee privacy
  • Revoke attorney-client privilege; and
  • Shorten union election time frames

SHRM members played an active role in voicing concern for the legislation, sending over 900+ letters in less than 24 hours to lawmakers opposing H.R. 842. The bill now goes to the Senate where the outlook for action is uncertain.
