Patricia Smith retired with more than 30 years of professional experience in a multitude of positions with the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC). Patricia was assigned as Quality Assurance Director to the Georgia Office of Victim Services, a division of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Director of Special Projects and as the Director of Human Resources for Georgia’s largest law enforcement state agency.
She completed the Corrections Leadership Institute and the Executive Leadership Program through the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government. In addition, she completed Executive Leadership for Women through the National Institute of Corrections and Georgia Governor’s Executive Leadership Development Program, a program designed to prepare executive-level staff to successfully take on the responsibilities and challenges faced in an agency head role.
Patricia, a native of Atlanta, Georgia graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and obtained her Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University. Patricia completed the requirements for certification by the Human Resources Certification Institute for the designation as Professional in Human Resources (PHR). Patricia is a member of the National Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). Since 2020, she has been a member of the Greater Henry County SHRM Chapter where she currently serves as the Core Leadership Area SHRM Foundation Director.
